About Eva Zang Tkatch
Eva Zang Tkatch, Abstract Artist
About Me
I have always been an artist at heart. My interest in expressive art started early in life and led me to a B.A in Art History and Sociology and an M.A. in Education. I have been lucky enough to express my creativity throughout my career in adult learning, management and photography. I have spent much of my free time for the past twenty years handcrafting jewelry, watercolor painting and in the past five years, I have studied alcohol inks, encaustics and acrylics. Now that I am newly retired, I am thoroughly enjoying my time as a full-time artist. Originally from Marblehead, Massachusetts, I live in Maryland with my wonderful husband, and kitty. My husband, Jim, is also an artist in photography. We are officially an “artsy-fartsy” household, fighting over the wall space in our home for hanging paintings and photographs.
About My Art
My work features happy, colorful abstract paintings from abstracts to expressive florals to impressionist landscapes. My primary medium and my first love is alcohol inks. I also work with encaustic wax, watercolor, acrylics, and india inks. I paint my pieces on a variety of substrates such as canvas, clayboard, vellum, yupo and paper. My art is an expression of my positive outlook on life and the natural beauty around us. It is intended to bring joy and brighten one’s surrounding and perhaps, provoke thoughts and feelings about art expression and the world’s abstract nature.
